"FALL" a short film - Eva Servais

FALL is a short contemporary dance film that explores metamorphosis as an inner and bodily transformation. Through movement, the film follows a woman who begins to question the identity she has built under the weight of social norms, expectations, and an imposed feminine ideal. She realizes that the form she inhabits no longer feels like her own, and that remaining within it slowly erases her inner vitality.

Rather than escaping, she chooses to surrender to the unknown—to let go of what has been projected onto her and to enter a process of unlearning. This choice leads her into a descent: a fall into silence, instability, and fragmented inner landscapes. Within this uncertain space, she encounters multiple versions of herself—forgotten, rejected, or repressed aspects that resurface through movement. These inner figures become forces of dialogue and tension, guiding her toward a new way of inhabiting her body.

Metamorphosis in FALL is not presented as a clean rebirth, but as a layered process of shedding, confronting, and recomposing. The film embraces imbalance, vulnerability, and transformation as necessary thresholds for becoming. It is an intimate journey that reflects a universal experience: the courage to release what no longer fits in order to invent oneself anew.
