Beauty in Moments: Jazzed - Ella White

This painting highlights the importance of appreciating beauty in fleeting moments. The photograph that inspired this work, taken by my friend Daisy Manahan, captured a moment just before the glasses had been rearranged, no longer refracting the light in vibrant colours. The beauty went unnoticed by others, too caught up in the bigger picture. The bottles and cocktail glass appear to take up a large amount of space in a small room—when in reality, they were ordinary, overlooked commonplace objects. I want the viewer to understand that it is easy to overlook these beautifully small moments but when you take the time to slow down and truly notice them, it can feel like they can fill up the space of the whole room.

Noticing  the small moments with a friend can make the world feel brighter, whether it is an unusual pattern in the bark of a tree, an oddly shaped rock, or the rainbow light that sometimes reflect through the glass

It is comforting to know that noticing these smaller things isn't a lost art, and I am able to share these experiences with the people I love, when they too look for the beauty in them.
