Schuetz's work is an amalgamated, apocalyptic vision — delivered in ridiculous, bold, unique and comedic ways. Influenced by comic books, cartoons, old movie posters, TV- music videos the works combine experiences of love, destruction, loss, hope, and renewal. These works are designed to deliver an acidic and humorous message to the world.
The vibrant paintings are mutated variants of American and Japanese sub-pop culture, focusing on unfinished business, family legacies, and cultural heritage, "ghosts of ancestors," where spirits of the dead influence the living. These topics are explored through ritual stories, intergenerational trauma, suggesting ancestral echoes that shape present lives.
The use of raw, unstretched, drop-cloth canvas, along with the frenetic energy of action painting, help to create a sense of urgency and impulsive energy. Poetic phrases and words, like call-outs, expand the visual impact of the works.
