'METAMORFOSIS' a short film - Juan Alonso

What happens in the precise instant of transformation?

Is it an eruption beneath the skin, or the silent arrival of a guest?

This photonic homage to the Kafkaesque obsession proposes a visual

metaphor for the most violent kind of change: possession. Here, metamorphosis is not

a character's internal fate, but an external entity - a red, nomadic consciousness

seeking bodies to inhabit.

Through a sequence of still photographs that pulse with cinematic tension, we follow

the passage of this presence. It is an exploration of  gazes: the gaze of the parasite, the borrowed gaze of the host, and finally; the gaze of the spectator, trapped in this vicious cycle of invasion and abandonment.

Metamorphosis emerges as a question rather than a narrative: are we the ones who change, or is change something that visits us, uses us, and discards us to continue its path?

Each frame was shot on 35mm slide film and digitally scanned.
